Regular Season Protests

  • Player eligibility & misapplication of a playing rule can be protested
  • Coach cannot protest an umpire's judgement call
  • Coach must present protest immediately to umpires & opposing team's head coach
  • Coach must then email their NEAAU Age Group Leader within 24 hours
  • NEAAU will not consider protests not filed on time

Playoff Protests

  • Play must be immediately stopped to announce a protest
  • Must be announced before the next pitch
  • Protest must be declared to both the umpires & opposing coaching staff
  • Must then call the appropriate NEAAU contact immediately to resolve the protest before resuming the game.
  • Only decisions involving the misinterpretation or misapplication of a rule, as well as player eligibility may be protested
  • No protest shall be allowed in matters involving solely the umpire’s judgment
  • NO ruling will be made if the proper protest procedure is not followed
  • Protests regarding an ejected player or coach will not be allowed
  • All decisions of the protest committee shall be final
